Holiday Celebrations in Phoenicia!
On December 23rd, Phoenicia will become a holiday wonderland with events, treats and a town-wide celebration! Starting at 3pm, meet Santa at Ulster Savings Bank on Main Street followed by a free rock concert at 4pm starring Uncle Rock and friends at the Shandaken Theatrical Society Playhouse. At 5pm join your neighbors at a bonfire sing along under the Holiday tree at Mama’s Boy Market and get ready to stroll at 6pm with other carollers throughout the town! Then at 7:30 at the Weslyan Church on Main Street, join the Phoenicia Community Chorus for Handel’s Messiah with soloists Amy Wallace, Brittany Sokolowski, Maria Todaro, Kerry Henderson, Louis Otey, Christopher Sokolowski. A fun “Messiah” tradition since 1756 has been for the audience to stand during the Hallelujah chorus so don’t be surprised if you see your neighbors jump to their feet! Stores will be open late to accomodate last minute shopping and Mama’s Boy Market is collecting non-perishable food items for the Helping Hands Food Pantry. So invite your friends from the area and bring your house guests to enjoy a Catskills Christmas in Phoenicia!
